Player owned game economies, explained
Every game has an economy. In most of them you are a renter: your inventory lives in the studio's database and disappears with the servers. A player owned economy flips that. This is what it means in practice, without the jargon, and how it works in AneeMate.
A player owned game economy records items, creatures and currency on a blockchain under the player's own wallet instead of in the studio's database. The player can trade them freely, keep them across updates and the studio cannot delete them. In AneeMate the creatures and items you own are on chain and $QORPO is the token used for packs and trading, and the same token sits behind the whole QORPO studio.
Renting versus owning
| Question | Traditional game | Player owned economy |
|---|---|---|
| Where does my inventory live? | Studio database | Blockchain, your wallet |
| Can I trade it for real value? | Against the terms of service | Yes, on open markets |
| What happens when servers close? | Everything is gone | Items remain yours |
| Can the studio delete or change my item? | Yes, any time | Not without your signature |
| Do I need a wallet to play? | No | Only to trade, not to play |
What it changes for a player
- Time is not wasted. A rare creature you spent a week catching keeps its value even if you stop playing.
- Trading is a feature, not a rule break. Players set prices, not the studio.
- The studio has to earn you. If it cannot delete your stuff, it keeps you by making the game better.
What it changes for a studio
Revenue has to come from things players want to buy, not from things players are forced to rebuy. In AneeMate that is capsule packs, cosmetics and a marketplace fee, paid in $QORPO. Revenue is used to buy $QORPO back from the open market, so the people who hold the token are the people who benefit when the game sells. How the buyback works.
How AneeMate does it
- You play free on Epic. No wallet, no token, nothing to set up.
- When you want to own a creature or item on chain, you link a wallet. It is minted to you.
- Packs and trading use $QORPO. The same token is behind the studio's other games, so there is one economy, not one per game.
- Every change to the game is public on the live page, including the economy code. 93% of web3 games launched between 2021 and 2024 are dead, mostly because the economy was the game. In AneeMate the game is the game and ownership is a feature.

Questions people ask
What is a player owned economy?
A game economy where items, creatures and currency are recorded on a blockchain under the player's wallet, so they can be traded, kept across updates and not removed by the studio.
Do I need crypto to play a player owned game?
Not in AneeMate. You play free on Epic. A wallet is needed only when you want to trade or own items on chain.
Why did so many web3 games fail?
Most made earning the point of the game, so when token prices fell the players left. The survivors are games that are fun first and use ownership as a feature.
How does the studio make money if players own everything?
From things players choose to buy: packs, cosmetics, marketplace fees. In QORPO's case that revenue buys $QORPO back from the market.
